School of Record
IBS is not a credit granting institution. Students are advised to check with their facility coordinator at their home institution to insure that credit for our course can be transferred. Independent Study is often a potential option for earning credit on off-campus programs. IBS courses are open to university students in good standing from an accredited university. Your facility advisor is more than welcome to contact our Enrollment Manager, Ms. Kayla Ihrig (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any academic questions they may have.
IBS works with the following universities to ensure that students at these institutions receive academic credit when participating on an IBS program:
Ashland University, Baylor University, Bryant University, California Lutheran University, California State University Fullerton, Canisius College, Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana State University, Loyola University of Maryland, Metropolitan State University of Denver, Murray State University, North Dakota State University, Northern Illinois University, Texas A&M University, University of Alabama, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, University of Florida, University of Mississippi, University of North Carolina at Wilmington, University of Texas at San Antonio, University of Wisconsin at La Crosse and Wayne State University.
If you are NOT a student from one of the above universities, you have two choices:
1). You can participate in the IBS course for no credit.
2). You can utilize our School of Record (NIU) to earn transferrable academic credit!
Through our School of Record relationship with the Northern Illinois University (NIU) College of Business, you can now receive credit from a high-caliber, large, accredited state research university.
Northern Illinois University
International Business Seminars is not a credit granting institution but through our relationship with the Northern Illinois University (NIU) as our School of Record as well as collaboration with the College of Business and the Study Abroad Office, you can now receive credit from a high-caliber, AACSB-accredited state research institution. NIU’s AACSB International accreditation is the most respected and highest credential of excellence for business and accountancy schools worldwide and only 4% of business schools around the globe have achieved this accreditation. The COB holds this accreditation at all levels: baccalaureate, masters, and accounting.
The transfer and application of academic credit is ultimately decided by your home academic institution, but having NIU as a school of record strengthens the likelihood that it will be accepted! You are advised to, again, check with your advisor at your home institution to ensure that credit for our course can be utilized towards your degree requirements. IBS courses are open to university students in good standing from any accredited university.NIU Faculty-Directed Study Abroad Application Checklist»
